Hey Reader, It's stress. In the back of our minds we know that stress is bad for us & can take us out ... - but we easily forget how to much stress (aka cortisol) can wreak HAVOC on our bodies. I was watching a TikTok video where a woman was talking about how life is exhausting right now. She has major social anxiety and her job is really demanding. On top of that, she's constantly required to do presentations + it's triggering that anxiety. She's noticed how she's constantly exhausted. Comes home from work and looks forward to going to bed. Doesn't go out on the weekends because she's recovering from the week. And isn't taking care of herself, and it's showing on her skin. How much of this can you relate to? Our stress hormone in itself isn't bad, but when it's constantly raised - our whole body suffers. #1. It ruins our sleep. Even though you're physically exhausted, your body is in fight or flight mode too much to relax. It's trying to protect you + it's throwing off your REM cycle. #2. It causes digestive issues. When you do eat, you feel queasy, you get bloated easily, you get constipated or have diarrhea. On the other end of the spectrum, it can lead to stress eating + overeating. #3. Your insulin (and blood sugar!) becomes dysregulated. Stress can affect insulin production and sensitivity, causing blood sugar levels to rise whether you eat or not. This could be why your moods are all over the place + anything can set you off! #4. All of the above creates inflammation that increases oil + sebum + irritation in your skin. When you have too much of this it can produce flesh colored pimples, but you're more likely to get more inflamed pimples with pus because of the inflammation. So if you've been stressed out lately + breaking out no matter what products you use ... Remember: you don't have skincare problem, you have an inflammation problem. Really prioritize your evening routine. Really think about how you're spending the last few hours of the day. What are you eating? How are prioritizing winding down from the day? How are you setting yourself up for good sleep? Create these habits. XOXO, Ashley | Acne Esthetician + Nutrition Coach |

Hey Reader, Have you ever woke up and couldn't wait until the day was over, so you could get back in bed because you're exhausted? Or you're so tired that you can't sleep, no matter how much you count sheep and stare at the ceiling? Even if this happens 1-2 nights a week, it's feeding into and contributing to your acne. But why?
