Should you avoid what you eat everyday to prevent acne flare-ups?

Happy Friday Reader!

In my favorite (acne-friendly!) things email, I talked about how I just started eating mangos again.

I stopped because at the beginning of my clear skin journey, I read that tropical fruits will make acne worse because of the sugars/carbs can imbalance your gut's microbiome ๐Ÿฅด

So I only ate berries because of the antioxidant benefits, and I enjoy berries, but I can only eat it so much before I'm sick of it!

This is part of the problem that I see spread around all over social media:

Food fear + misguided food healing.

You'll hear someone say, "I had to cut out dairy and gluten to clear my acne". Keyword: I - not you.

What's really going on: their body had a hard time digesting that or they had a food intolerance to some to something that has dairy or gluten in it.

Studies are still being done on dairy to this day because it's hard to pinpoint person to person what was the reason that dairy played a big part.

I'll have to make a podcast all about dairy.

So, why are people telling you to avoid foods like whey protein, dairy, eggs, gluten, sugar, chocolate, etc?

I tell you all the time: acne is not a skincare problem, it's an inflammation problem. Inflammation on the skin is related to inflammation in the gut.

For us acne-sufferers, our gut is so sensitive because our microbiome (the good and bad bacteria in our gut) has more bad bacteria than good + only eating these foods feed the bad bacteria.

We aren't eating enough of the foods that coat our gut with enough nutrients, minerals, + protein that feeds the good bacteria.

And then most people aren't taught how to listen to their bodies to check for intolerances or sensitivities.

Our society normalizes stomach problems as a "woman thing" + we keep it pushing.

Instead of asking "what foods should I avoid with acne?", The Lets Get You Clear Method:

๐Ÿฅ‚ Teaches you how to understand your body + what foods your body can + can't handle. What foods triggers a breakout for you.

โœจ Then we need to lower the inflammation in your gut by eating - not dieting or eating salads all day everyday - and adding in supplements.

๐ŸŽ‰ While doing that, you work on balancing your blood sugar, so you can get immediate results. I'm talking more energy, no more getting tired in the middle of the day + needing a 4 hour nap, no more bloating, get that glow back in your skin, and getting a bowel movement daily.

I'm not here for living a life without mangos - and you shouldn't be subjected to that life either.

Acne is not a death sentence or a fun-ruiner. Acne is an inflammation problem.

You lower inflammation, you get rid of the acne.

When we work together, it's that simple.

Hey Reader, Have you ever woke up and couldn't wait until the day was over, so you could get back in bed because you're exhausted? Or you're so tired that you can't sleep, no matter how much you count sheep and stare at the ceiling? Even if this happens 1-2 nights a week, it's feeding into and contributing to your acne. But why?
